What did next BAT MD Crispin Achola study in university?

BAT Kenya named Crispin Achola its next chief executive on December 7. Achola will take over as BAT Kenya managing director in January 2021, replacing Beverly Spencer-Obatoyinbo who is stepping down after more than four years as BAT Kenya MD.

Achola takes over as BAT MD at a time when the company continues to grapple with rising taxes, tightening tobacco regulations and competition from black market cigarettes.

Crispin Achola will join BAT from American consumer products giant Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Kimberly-Clark is the maker of Huggies diapers. Achola joined Kimberly-Clark in 2017. At Kimberly-Clark, Achola oversaw the company’s operations across most of Africa while based in Nigeria as country managing director.

Prior to Kimberly-Clark, Achola worked at BAT Kenya and oversaw BAT Group operations in several African countries including Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Sudan. Achola’s previous career with BAT spanned nearly 20 years.
