Why do stock prices go up and down?

Stock or share prices keep changing. Supply and demand causes the change in stock price.

The price of a stock would rise if demand for the stock exceeds supply.

Similarly, the price would drop if supply exceeds demand, meaning there are more people selling the stock than buying it.
